Resources on Aplastic Anemia
The short description: Aplastic Anemia can vary by severity and I have what appears to be a severe version. It's a bone marrow disease where the bone marrow stops making RBCs, WBCs, and platelets for the body. So it puts the body at a very high risk for infections to be life threatening or for spontaneous bleeding to occur. Each year in the U.S., about 600-900 people are diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia. It can affect any age, race or gender but most typically presents in children or young adults and is more likely to affect Asian-Americans.
